World Cruises

Never been on a cruise? Your last cruise was a few years ago?

Cruises have expanded in so many ways since the famous Alaska and Caribbean cruises became popular and now seemingly common place. The images in your head of cruises with cramped spaces, looking like the Love Boat or with uncooperative deck chairs have been replaced by extremely comfortable cruises on massive cruise ships.

What can you expect on a cruise?

Cruise prices include essential items such as your stateroom, entertainment, games, and meals. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks (usually) are extra. There are a large number of cost factors to include when planning your cruise: airfare (often bundled with your cruise booking), casino, insurance, tips, salon and spa treatments, shore excursion fees, and transfers.

Of course your cruise destination shapes the nature of the cruise.

Cruise Ship Terminology Guide

People who don't know the difference between a sail boat and boat on sale should commit these top 10 nautical terms to memory. And, more importantly, don't call a cruise ship a boat.

  • Aft: The end of the ship.
  • Bridge: They steer the cruise ship from here.
  • Disembark: Get off the cruise ship.
  • Embarkation: process for getting on the cruise ship.
  • Fore: the front of the cruise ship.
  • Galley: Cruise ship's kitchen.
  • Muster Drill or Lifeboat Drill: mandatory cruise ship safety drill
  • Port: The left side of a ship if as you face forward.
  • Starboard: The right side of a ship as you face forward.
  • Stateroom: A cruise ship cabin
